Hey everyone,

In light of the abrupt closure of NL-E, we would like to start amassing all the resource files the community has benefited from over the years.

This thread will be in a state of WIP, if you have any links to tools such as FVD or other valuable resources for the community, link below as we try to continually piece this back together.

We can somewhat access cached pages of NL-E on google but looks to be pretty limited, see here.

Thanks!

Here is Pyther's Object Attachment Script.
Basically any links that don't lead to another forum post can be posted here easily.

You can copy the discussion number and replace the archive's discussion number with it to jump from post to post.
This, however, only seems to work with the link posted in the feedback & suggestions thread. This one here always goes to the resource thread.

I am going to attempt to translate the entire NLE resource thread over to here with working links using wayback and updated downloads, I'll post each section as it gets translated

So, surprisingly with a little bit of digging and uploading some of the stuff off of my own computer, I've managed to collect all but 2 of the original items from the NLE NL2 resource page on Wayback and getting links to the original files, some of them uploaded myself from before they were unavailable. For any download links from inside Wayback where the discussions are still stored, I've either provided them here, or they can most likely be accessed by removing the first part of the URL of the page.

so yea, here's the entire NL2 Resource Thread and some more (apparently NLC has a 10k character limit!)

and since it doesn't really fit with any other categories here:

Digging up everything took a couple hours, but I think it was totally worth it to make sure that all of this awesome content wasn't just lost into oblivion. I may try to compile the NL1 resource thread in the same way, and maybe even dig up some of the old nl1 track I downloaded so long ago and see if I can find a way to upload and share all of those since they seem to have been lost entirely.

If you have any more files that you would like to see added to this list, please let me know so I can add them as soon as possible, especially custom trains and clone coaster models

Thousand thanks for doing that tedious work! I was not even able to archive my own posts and threads due to the sudden NLE shotdown, which was on my agenda.

Realistic G-Force Limit Graphs

Have you ever had second thoughts about whether or not some of the Gs on your rides are reasonably sustained? Here are some graphs for you! All of these graphs were taken from the Blue Ribbon Panel Review of the Correlation between Brain Injury and Roller Coaster Rides (from the Brain Injury Association of America) and are based on standards set by Section-7 of ASTM Z9591Z ("Standard Practice/Guide for the Design of Amusement Rides and Devices").

Note that for a realistic coaster, the limits seen here are absolute and are NOT to be treated as target G-values/durations. In many cases, even if the Gs are technically safe based on the graphs, they may still be uncomfortable, so don't forget to still keep rider experience in mind when making a realistic coaster.

To be able to understand the graphs better, here are some guides for what some of the terms mean:

  • Restraint Systems

  1. Base Case - A basic restraint system that uses lap bars.
  2. Over-The-Shoulder Restraint - Self-explanatory.
  3. "Prone" Restraint - The restraint system seen on flying coasters.
  • G-Forces

  1. +Gx (Eyes Back) - These are positive accelerational G-forces, the kind you would experience when launching (or, in the case of a flying coaster, when in the "lie" position).
  2. -Gx (Eyes Front) - These are negative accelerational G-forces, the kind you would experience when braking (or, in the case of a flying coaster, when in the "fly" position).
  3. +/-Gy (Eyes Left or Eyes Right) - These are lateral G-forces, the kind you would experience on turns.
  4. -Gz (Eyes Up) - These are negative vertical G-forces, AKA airtime (or, in the case of a flying coaster, the kind of force you would experience when braking).
  5. +Gz (Eyes Down) - These are positive vertical G-forces, the kind you would experience at the bottom of a drop (or, in the case of a flying coaster, when launching).

^ thank you for finding that! And I believe it was Kyle Sloane that made the blender exporter, and i think that's what #3 under tools is

May I leave a link to a refurbished YouTube channel from Freefall / MGRides which I also joined now?

We already have started to provide video series about basic NL2 usage for beginners and also a blender tutorial series especially made for usage with NL2 and I'm also contributing a series about scripting.

I'm just in doubt about posting it here, since it is it is in German language only for now. But, if the resonance is good, we would also recreating the series with spoken english language for an international user base. The video content itself is produced to be ready to be upgraded easily already. An intermediate step could be just providing manually created YouTube subtitles first. We'll see.

I'm not talking about the Blender FVD. I'm talking about a CSV importer (professional tab). Pretty sure someone had used it to show off their Bobsled track.

I have that OpenSource thingy going on with custom sounds, specifically noises a coaster would make like lifthills and roars. For sake of simplicity I named it "Nolimits2Sounds". With kind permissions it also contains TheCodeMaster's Roar Kit. Everything including instructions for usage and the downloads are over on GitHub: Link
