Hey there, i just made a FVD layout for a B&M giga everything else is fine wiht forces and etc except for the first drop which pulls -0.7 for a split second in the back row the force graph is 1 second of linear 0.8 --> -0.05G any idea how i could fix it?

Do you have screen shots of your force modelling for this? That back row sure hits stronger forces than other rows on drops, that's not uncommon.

Hello everyone! I was wondering if there was a way to make the default type for roll(when designing force sections) something other than quartic? for some reason it always defaults to this, and i would prefer cubic. Any ideas?

Good question! And yes, I rarely use quartic, too...

I still have problems with this and I am also on an M1 iMac. Getting the track to zero isn't hard but getting it to stay straight after that is near impossible.

Stephan must not respond to emails because he didn't reply to mine when I brought up the multiple issues FVD++ has on Mac. I have the same text formatting issue with FVD++. Eventually I posted on github and geforcefan responded to me and really helped get the Mac version working (it wouldn't save files or export tracks and was essentially useless.)

For what it's worth, geforcefan indicated via email that Stephan won't touch the program anymore as he has an industry job and that he (geforcefan) wouldn't be fixing any more bugs after helping me.

I still have lots of issues with FVD++ on my Mac: the camera moves fast, I can't finely control values with the option or function key (I forget which one it is,) sometimes I am able to input numbers into the boxes but most of the time I can not, and there is no "return to zero" function on the mac version (I know some people don't like it but I think it could come in handy- especially considering that I can't option-scroll for fine tuning.) Also, I have to switch to English from Metric every time I start the program. I'm not sur eof that is normal or not.

Basically, FVD++ is dead unless someone wants to pick up the ball and run with it.

I don't know about everyone else, but I've been using NL2 and FVD since January and would gladly pay for continued support of FVD, or even better, official integration into NL2. This software deserves the love.

Hey guys, I am trying to build a small but perfect loop in force section without lateral gs with a 10m height at the top of the lift in FVD++, but it's difficult to shape. Does any-kind-hearted-one have an idea?

Posted April 25, 2025· Edited June 5, 2026

Every layout is completely unique to itself. Giving the height of the lift is one thing, but to be able to do something with it is something else.

What I will say for the graphs, however, is that you want both your roll and your normal force graphs to be quartic (though plateau also works for rolls). Normal force should generally decrease by a fair amount (I aim for about 2g decrease), and you may need to adjust the tension. Sharper graphs will give you a more teardrop-shaped loop, looser graphs will be more circular. Adjust the tension in the roll to keep it to your desired exit roll angle.

Thanks a lot.
And Is there a FVD+++ or FVD++ version 3 is developing?

Nope. FVD++ didn't even make it officially to a V1.0 - the chances of any substantial change to FVD are slim at best.

I'm trying to shape the Vekoma double corkscrew, but I can't do the second corkscrew in a row.
Does anyone have any advice on how to shape the double corkscrew and SLC double in-line twist?

Hey guys,
i have a question about exporting. I export my layouts with a 0.5 m node-distance. After importing into NL2 i try to place supports, but the program is getting really slow. I suppose NL2 recalculates with each move of the support node the track nodes. Is there a way to get it smoother to place supports? Is it normal that the program is becoming slow?

Thx :)

Try disabling the view of vertices in the display panel. I think I've had that problem before and that fixed it. On a side note, I've found that spacing the vertices at 0.5m doesn't make any difference from every 1m, but there may be use cases for it.
