I'm new at Fvd why is my geometric section not going longer it just stops and i cant append anymore

If I'm understanding correctly your issue...

All three graphs need to be extended together in order for the track to be created.

If that's not it, I'll need more info; a screenshot perhaps, or more detailed explanation of what you're trying to achieve.

Hey, I’m new to FVD. I am wondering how to use an image for recreations. I tried putting one in, but there’s no way to adjust it’s position or size. If there really is nothing to do, this is an inconvenient system, as I would have to do all my edits in an external program then hope it works in FVD. Is there any easier way of doing this in the program, or is there an intention of adding this functionality to the program? I honestly see no reason why it wouldn’t already be possible, especially since there’s already the option of importing an image.

Does anyone know if FVD++ will be updated for the M1 iMac? I'm missing so much by not being able to use this tool. The application refuses to open on my Mac.

Hi everyone! So I am having a problem working FVD++, both the 0.77 & 0.79 versions are not formatting properly on my computer. I'm using an ASUS ZenBook Flip 15 running Windows 11, x64-based. These images show the issue, it seems like every text or option box native to the program is squished vertically and there is no scrolling options. This issue essentially makes the program unusable. Anyone have any advice or recommendations?

Hey guys, im trying to make a backyard roller coaster in FVD++ but i cant find the right friction values to use. the cart is about 80-100 pounds and i put in .275 for the friction value(euro fighter 2 friction value) since its the closest to my train, but it doesnt work correctly and runs for about 5 seconds before running out of speed. can anyone help me find the right values to use please, it would help so much

Try 0.0275 for the friction instead of 0.275 - the default friction values in NL2 and FVD++ are all 0.030 or lower. Hope this helps!

I have the same exact problem! FVD++ works fine on my 2021 M1 iMac but for some reason the text is squished on my Asus Zenbook Duo Pro running Windows 11, to the point where I cannot read anything. Whoever has a solution, please help! :)

Can anyone help me? I made a run of air time hills coming out of a turn section and the hills don't stay straight after returning the track to as close to zero as possible. The hills start to wander off and I cannot figure out how to fix it!

After a turn I returned the track to as close to zero as possible and set the roll to dynamic and starting making air time hills with normal forces like I've done a thousand times before; except this time by the time I got to the end and added a straight section of track for a brake run, the brake run was tilted and I noticed the entire line of airtime hills had wandered off course from my zero point.

I am fairly new to the program but have followed all the tutorials on basic coaster construction on YouTube. I know I'm probably missing something very obvious.

CenterOf Rails are you sure the roll rate of change value is 0? This is the value in brackets to the right of what your current value for roll is. I'm sure there's a more elegant solution but I usually add a small cubic function to get that value back to 0 and then you can try and make sure the actual value is as close to 0 as possible. Hope this helps

Bumping this because I still have not been able to resolve this issue. I tried emailing the Stephan and received no response.

Stephan must not respond to emails because he didn't reply to mine when I brought up the multiple issues FVD++ has on Mac. I have the same text formatting issue with FVD++. Eventually I posted on github and geforcefan responded to me and really helped get the Mac version working (it wouldn't save files or export tracks and was essentially useless.)

For what it's worth, geforcefan indicated via email that Stephan won't touch the program anymore as he has an industry job and that he (geforcefan) wouldn't be fixing any more bugs after helping me.

I still have lots of issues with FVD++ on my Mac: the camera moves fast, I can't finely control values with the option or function key (I forget which one it is,) sometimes I am able to input numbers into the boxes but most of the time I can not, and there is no "return to zero" function on the mac version (I know some people don't like it but I think it could come in handy- especially considering that I can't option-scroll for fine tuning.) Also, I have to switch to English from Metric every time I start the program. I'm not sur eof that is normal or not.

Basically, FVD++ is dead unless someone wants to pick up the ball and run with it.

From what I can tell, he's developed software based very closely off of FVD for industry use. I wouldn't be surprised if he outright wasn't allowed to do much work on FVD anymore.

This was removed intentionally as it often didn't work properly.

Most coasters are designed in metric anyway, so that's not something that needs to be worried about in my opinion.

Is anyone else having trouble with FVD on Windows 11? I recently bought a new computer with Windows 11 instead of Windows 10, and all of the text in FVD is warped and the whole thing doesn't look as it did on my other computer. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks everyone for your comments, it appears FVD++ may not be compatible with Windows 11 or just on my computer for whatever reason. An update otherwise, I've actually been able to make good use of the Force Vector function within NL2 itself. I've lately been working on my first force vector-designed project and while there's definitely been a learning curve, I've been satisfied with how it's going:

While it appears that there are a number of features in FVD++ that I'll be missing out on for now, the internal tool should definitely suffice.

I want to be able to make RCT track pieces in FVD so I can use them as elements but ran into this problem.

I was able to get the basics done figuring out the proper dimensions of them, do flat curves (straight curved up or down pieces and regular straight sections) but downward turns and upward turns seems to be the problem. I was able to create them but they’re not precise as they should be. I couldn’t use a curved section to get it exactly rounded, I had to use a geometric sections — which got the job done, but not exactly precise.

What I meant is RCT seems to be very simple with how they oriented their sections. A down or up curve silhouette if we were to look above is a perfect quarter of a circle, and share the same orientation/silhouette as if the curve is flat too, which now then skewed vertically that is all.

Working on one of the prebuilt rides from RCT 3 called Facelift.

I have an FVD++ question I hope somebody could chime in on: I want to make a flat 180º turn coming off the top of a lift hill (like The Demon at SFGA or CGA) with a specific radius but maintaining no lateral Gs. I can't accomplish this with a curved section as there's no way to specify roll. Force sections don't work at all. Geometric sections don't work at all. I've played with all the various function types. Am I missing something obvious?
