Screen Shot Saturday Madness! - Gallery Posted 12/12/2020
It was a fine shot to use for the batch of the week. I took the time to compose a shot that would have worked fine, but all of the sudden we are getting nitpicky over pictures now? I don't appreciate that very much.
All of the sudden? Uh...ask Scourge about that.
It's always been that all screens found are reviewed and those that are pretty good get in the gallery. I appreciate that you took time to compose the shot. I provided feedback on how to improve the shot of a coaster that clearly has a lot of work put into it. Just like the weekly Roundups, the possibilities are reviewed and the best ones get featured. Let's see more of your coaster from some different angles!

I just feel like the barrier for entering SSS wasn't nearly as strict back in the day. I had entered countless screenshots without being critiqued on all of them. Granted, I understand why you give criticism so that the overall quality is better, but for the shot I provided, I thought it was a nice enough shot not to get completely rejected.
The other problem is that this ride is heavy work in progress so there aren't any other good angles right now. I created the scene specifically for the screenshot. I was also aiming for a more silhouetted, back lit, style in general. It's a shame that the track is banked away from this perspective, but I even included two trains to compensate. As for the subject, the largest rock formation was meant to be the focal point of the image to show off what can be done using a set of generic rock objects.
It was one photo, it was a little dark, and the trains aren't really the centerpiece or framed portion of the picture. The first thing I look at is the rock sculpture. Maybe take a shot from above with the sun behind you so they're brighter. Try another angle or one with the trains not so hidden. Just try again. Sometimes I post a couple of screenshots in this thread so the team can pick the best.
Since it's a work in progress, maybe you should wait until you can get a better shot. Right now, it just don't really pop to me. And there's always next week. I've had weeks when my photos weren't selected or when I thought my best photo wasn't selected. Just keep trying.
Also, I think SSS might be more strict now than before because the program is a few years old, more people are using it, and people are getting better at it.
While having a train in the shot is nice, it shouldn't have to be the focus of every single image. The point of the shot was for the scenery to be the focus with the trains as a bonus. I made a conscious choice to frame this shot the way I did and with the angle I found interesting. Even if it wasn't a work in progress, this is the angle I chose because of what I wanted to show.
If the rocks were supposed to be the focus then why are they in complete shadow? The things that pop most in the image are the sky and the flowers. And even if you wanted those to be your subject, then there's too much scenery and track in the frame.
Idk why you're getting so butthurt about it, there's literally no point in making such a big deal about it. Just take another picture and move on.
Son of a Jackal!

I've been working on my Gangstas' Adventures park again. I'll start shooting soon. I'm expecting to make a 20 min video, but I want to look at a few tutorials first. I still haven't found what's causing the lag. Maybe because it's 11 coasters and 11 - 13 flat rides with scenery all around. I have a huge custom track there too, so that might be what's killing the frame rate in a particular area of the park, though when I look in the opposite direction of the custom track, the frame rate gets worse.
Its most likely the custom track, especially if it does not have any LODs

I was wondering when or if anyone was ever going to do that.
Can you PLEASE upload it!
@Element 115, I used a tutorial online by The Codemaster for my custom track, but it has no LOD. I also changed the LOD in the display tab, and the lag is better. Thanks.
I realize I didn't give the names of the last images. From top to bottom it's Hennessy, Young Gangsta, and Spades: Aces flyin'. All done by me.

Young Gangsta by myself.
2 in so far.
Young Gangsta is the best of the realistic coasters batch, but even so it needs work. Fencing is the most prominent thing in the pic, with the coaster isolated so a much smaller part. There's lots to look at, but the framing looks like the photographer missed the subject. Try again so we can see more of this coaster!

Thanks! Still thankful for the name =)
Togo's will make 5! Sometimes chaotic color works!
Baron...so far away! I can see that you want to show the whole island. Framing it this way, we see a lot of water and sky, some land, back sides of buildings, trees, and a bit of coaster peeking out above. Trying to determine the subject of the pic becomes difficult. It's kind of like this picture of Cedar Point from the parking lot: https://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g50940-d102765-i24099993-Cedar_Point-Sandusky_Ohio.html
There isn't much to see...so much is sky and cars and road. Coasters are there, but not the focus of the shot. Nothing really is, which makes it a less interesting shot. But a coaster on an island is cool! Fly around and walk around the island and look for really compelling angles.

I've always felt (And still feel) people take the "If you don't have anything nice to say" approach on this forum. But this quote is a huge reason why I signed up. I understand my work isn't as good or as accurate to real coasters like they are from other members on here, but I want to become more realistic. To say that I was intentionally showing the fencing would discourage any further critiquing of my work, because it may come off as ungrateful and unwilling to learn. I know I have to include a train in images, so that might be why the photographer missed the subject. But I want this. I'd love advice from some of the members here, but most play favoritism to members who's been apart of this community the longest.
I really have no idea how to be a photographer. A lot of times I'll see an angle I like and just take a picture, and it may not abide by the rules of this thread, which are great pointers for taking good pictures IMO. If you're at all familiar with any of my work, even through pictures, I really would appreciate anything you can do or say that will help me. And not to clutter up this thread, I'd be happy to discuss this in PMs.
