I'm surprised that they didn't work that empty patch of grass next to the Vortex pond into the layout. I did not expect the current route at all.

In any case, I'm super pumped about this addition. Looks like it'll be my first dive coaster experience ever, and its a good one.

This looks like the best Dive by far. Too bad it'll have the vest restraints. I have always wanted to see a vertical loop on a Dive.

No, honestly, I think the post MCBR section could be removed and the ride would be just as thrilling.

These coasters are all about the steep drop's, which you don't get on other ride styles. When we look at the layouts of other drive coasters, there isn't a lot of track between the first drop and the MCBR leading the 2nd drop. This means you maintain enough energy to get a decent sized (and steep) second drop, then after that you can use whatever you have left to do some wacky elements (albeit likely never having enough to do these huge elements such as the vertical loop). So here, you have the big drop (which looks insane), then you spend all that energy in the following inversions and hit the MCBR, at which point you have less to offer.

So, in my opinion, if you want to do those elements, thats fine they look fun, but just end the ride there. Look at the smaller dive coasters which don't attempt the second drop but focus on doing other elements things such as Valkyria. So therefore my view is that this isn't as good a 'dive coaster' as, say, Valravn, Griffon or the Sheikra clones which all have two impressive drops.

Discuss.

^ I don't think any ride can be as good as Sheikra anymore because of the new restraints. The MCBR on this ride is strictly for capacity sake. That is a lot of time from drop to MCBR, so they need time to let another train make its way up the lift towards the drop to increase capacity.

Obviously the part after the MCBR is unneccassary and possibly a little lame, but it will help with capacity and that helix over the sidewalk is pretty darn cool as well.

^ That is actually a good point about capacity that I hadn't considered... and you are right, a helix over the bystanders looks pretty awesome.

I think the coaster installing a vertical loop is pretty cool. We don't see many of those now a days on the newer coasters its always a dive loop or Immelmann loop or some kind of new roll. Its kind of refreshing to see a normal vertical loop. The coaster looks like a good addition to the park.

i made a quick prediction for the second ever big dipper. somehow really interesting and odd layout.
its based on a video with some offride footage the showed at an event.

Good job, that's the official NL2 animation by the way:

The vests don't ruin Valravn at all. It boggles me that people will say Valravn sucks because of vests and then praise Valkyria. You can't pick and choose which rides the same vests are good on.

I have only ridden three Dive Coasters: Oblivion, Sheikra, and Valravn. Sheikra by far has the best experience and I think it is strictly because of the restraints. Valravn is fun, but it would be a lot more fun if you were a little more free in the restraints.

Valkyria appears to be different though -- it doesn't focus on 'just hangtime' or 'just G force'. It looks as if the vests don't actually subtract from the experience that much, as it's the overall combination of elements that would make me want to ride it, rather than 'just hangtime' or 'just G force'.

As for the overall dislike of vests, I don't understand. They're perfectly fine in my opinion -- that being said, I've only been on one vest B&M.

Picking up on this convo, overall I don't mind the vests. Especially if it allows GP to enjoy a ride more. However, some people seem to find dive coasters pretty boring, because the floater's not very exciting. Having been on SheiKra and Valravn, I vastly prefer SheiKra because the drop feels much crazier. The only reason I can deduce that is due to the restraints - you just get that extra little bit of floater. It's hard to describe. Being stapled kinda kills it IMO.

But I know others who don't really notice a difference between the two. YMMV, I guess!

in my opinion, if griffon were to have vests, it would be my least favorite dive out of all of the US dives. But with the regular restraints, it stands as my favorite US dive. While it may not have the best layout objectively, the restraints put it above valravn because i can enjoy griffons airtime and hangtime moments more than i would with the vests.

I wonder if there may be correlation between one's body type/size and their perception of the restraints? Myself, Im a rather slim guy, I don't notice much of a difference at all.

^China because its economy is booming and tourism is becoming huge, not to mention they have 6x the number of people that the US has lol.

I'm really excited to see how FLY turns out. The concept sounds amazing and it's even using the new-gen vekoma track so I'd assume it's smooth.

Too bad it will only be temporary, it's a really cool ride! Stunnning visually and fun to ride. You got a kind of out-of-control scary airtime you can't find on any coaster.
