Toolbar & Media Update

Happy Halloween Everyone,

Just a few weeks ago I made a news post about the new dark theme and detailed a few more updates I wanted to push out before the year is over. I'm pleased to say that one of those updates is finished and live!

This update includes two new features, a new toolbar that will help new comers and those who do not want to learn markdown or find it confusing format their posts, and the ability to embed social media content.

Toolbar

A toolbar for formatting posts has been a long overdue feature. As I have stated before, I've sort of held off on making it for quite sometime. I was able to make this update so quickly after the dark theme update because I essentially changed the underlying element of the comment field.

The toolbar's implementation was still a bit tricky, so expect updates to it in the coming weeks, along with additional icons for more markdown formatting convenience. I have also remade NLC's markdown guide, so please reread that, or at least the social media portion to ensure you understand how it works. I plan to remake the about page with a similar format in the near future.

Social Media Embeds

Along with this update is another feature I've wanted NLC to have for quite some time, the ability to embed Facebook posts and tweets to comments. The delay for this was the same reason for the toolbar, but since that was changed adding this was just an easy benefit. You can now use the image / video syntax you're used to, "", and paste a tweet or facebook post between the content section. This is detailed a bit more in the markdown guide, so again please read that section. As far as what you can embed, facebook posts, photos, galleries, and videos from public pages, and tweets, all work.

As always, if you have any feedback or notice any issues, please let me know in the Site Feedback & Suggestions topic.

Until the next update,
