Dark Theme & More To Come
Hi everyone,
Halloween is approaching quickly, and to get into the spirit of the season, I've pushed out an update that includes a dark theme mode. This has been one of the most requested features since NLC has launched, and I'm glad to say it's finally here. I've made it so authenticated user's theme is dark, but this can be changed by going into your settings and changing the theme from "Dark" to "Light". As always, there may be some stuff that I missed, so if there is, please PM me about it or post about it in the Site Feedback topic. There will definitely be some adjustments and improvements over the next week or so since it's just been rolled out.
Aside from that, I want to share some other features I have planned for NLC!
Firstly, I'd like to do a bit of tidying up on some of the pages. This has been on my list for a while, but there are some bugs and design changes on smaller pages (like the rules page, about, etc) that I'd like to fix and improve.
As for new features, after tidying up, the next feature I have planned for NLC is the ability to attach files to comments. I believe this would make a much more convenient experience for sharing parks on the forum. Think Track Tennis, smaller WIP parks, scripts, sound files, 3d models, etc. I haven't given too much thought about the constraints of attachments, but I'll try to make it so it is useful for something of small-medium size.
In addition to attachments, I want to add a toolbar (of sorts) to help format topics and comments. This feature will basically remove the need to memorize markdown, and help newcomers as well. If you've been following NLC's development, you'll know I've been ignoring this feature because the implementation browsers have for this sort of thing ("content editable") sucks. After a bit of playing around, I think I have a good way to approach this, so look forward to it in the near future!
And of course smaller updates such as unlisted parks, the ability to edit your park before it is uploaded, are planned. I'm going to try to have the timeline for these new features be winter 2018 - 2019.
Until the next update,
~ ride
