Monaco Grand Prix Coaster Contest - Results
Looking forward to this opening up! Just completed my first contest entry ever in the Screamer 4 contest, excited to do another!
Contest Begin
It's lights out and away we go! The template is now released for everyone to build on.

Included is an FVD++ overlay and the NL2pkg park file.
For those of you using FVD++, the overlay is height-mapped to get a general sense of the terrain, however some spots may not be exact. Thus, we strongly recommend regularly importing into NL2 as you build to ensure your coaster appears as planned. Also - the FVD Template slightly cuts off some of the shoreline boundaries, so importing into NL2 will help ensure you can use the entirety of the shoreline area allowed.

Best of luck to everyone, and do not hesitate to ask questions if you have any!
Entry form!
Attached is the form to submit your entry when you are finished, whether you are done now or at the end of the contest! Keep up the great work everyone and we can't wait to see your finished proposals for the future of Monaco.
DEADLINE EXTENDED
Heya! In the interest of getting as many entries in as possible, we have decided to extend the deadline by a week. Your rides will now be due on Race Day, May 29th at 11:59PM BST.
Keep up the good work and happy building!
Finished and submitted!

My entry is definitely larger than I planned... the massive template was just too enticing! And though the supports were a challenge (due to the roads and buildings), I'm proud of the final product, it's just as relentless and crazy as I hoped it would be. All in all, I've enjoyed these back-to-back-to-back contests (Purism^2, then Seaside Screamer 4, and finally Monaco Grand Prix), it's given plenty of opportunities to improve... I'm interested to see what everyone else submits.
And that is me done!
My checkered flag has flown:
A couple thousand feet too long
6 Inversions
86mph Top Speed.

Submitted! I only had a few days to work on an entry due to exams, but used it to go a bit over the top with the layout, even if its a bit rough around the edges.
- Drop: 45m -- Height difference: 91m -- Length: 1709m -- Speed: 121km/h

For starters: we greatly apologize for this prolonged delay in the results. Due to me not having created a judging sheet before the due date, combined with my laptop breaking and being out of service for a month, I was responsible for a late start to the judging. By this point, personal circumstances prevented two of our judges from evaluating the rides. We had continued to wait as their feedback would have been valuable, but considering that the deadline was three months ago, we have all determined that in respect for the contestants’ efforts it is best to release results now, with feedback from two judges (Keltan and myself). As for the disorganization and lack of communication, I am sorry on these marks as well - we should have been more clear as to what the situation was as we waited.
With that being said:
The race has been completed and all results confirmed, and we now stand at the podium to applaud our top contestants.
Taking the Checkered Flag in First Place: Monacoaster by ML Designs!

Second: Dragonfire by Changa!

Rounding out our podium: Monaco Coaster by HiAnonym!

We have greatly enjoyed everyone’s concepts for the future of Monaco, and the citizens are excited for their new Intamin semi-shuttle coaster to bring new attention and thrills to the principality. Thank you everyone!

Welcome to Monaco, the city-state by the sea and the home of the famed Monaco Grand Prix. Since 1929, Monaco has welcomed the pinnacle of Motorsport - Formula One - to the streets of Monte Carlo, a thrilling spectacle that has lasted nearly a century. Unfortunately, in recent years, F1 cars have gotten much longer and overtaking has become less and less common on such narrow streets. The Grimaldis have thus gotten somewhat bored of watching the race and now want a new kind of thrill to be part of their city. Now, the challenge is in your hands - design a ride to fit into the city of Monte Carlo, creating even greater thrills during the F1 race weekend and throughout the year.
The Template
Pictured is an overview of the template.
Your build area is the yellow border - all track and supports must be enclosed within this area. The top of the yellow border is your maximum build height, in which all track and supports must not go above it. This maximum height rests 300 feet (92m) above the highest ground level, and 475 feet (145m) above sea level.
The roads covered by a 5-meter-high red barrier is the F1 circuit itself, and areas marked in green are paths of varying clearance heights. No part of the coaster may enter these areas, be it track, supports, trains, or the trains' clearance envelopes.
In areas marked by blue, no track, trains, or train clearances may drop through these zones; however, you may place supports here as needed.
You may bridge over buildings (models marked in white) and get as close to them as allowed by the trains’ clearance envelopes; however, no supports can be placed on them.
In all other zones (areas without a barrier over them), you may bring track, trains, and clearances down to ground level. This includes the water and the tan area inside the hairpin corner! You may utilize the entire template so long as you do not go outside the yellow barriers.
Regulations:
Timeline:
The template will be released on April 24 at midnight GMT; for those of you who prefer to use FVD++, we will provide an overlay. Your ride will be due four weeks later, on May 22 at 11:59PM GMT.

Best of luck to all the entrants, and we can’t wait to see what thrilling proposals come forward to make Monaco even better!
