Womp's thread of stuff
Nice touch!
Thanks CoolioJoe.
While working on that, i also wanted to have the snake badge for each respective car as detail on both the back of the seat/restraint structure, and on the seat itself. But both those locations used a single mirrored texture for each side of the train. So it ended up not working.
So i haven't posted anything in my thread here for a while, simply because i haven't actually done anything in NL2 for a while. Other things have been taking up my free time recently.
But anyway, here's something.
I did this towards the end of last year for a friend. Re-created an iconic scene from Jurassic Park using a combination of BeamNG Drive and Photoshop.
Movie scene:

My scene:

Nearly exact! Which parts of your recreation are in-game and which are Photoshop? I'm guessing Rexy and Alan are the Photoshopped parts, since they look the same as in the movie screen.
Yeah, rex o'saur and Alan are the photoshopped bits. Everything else was done with scenery in BeamNG. Found re-creations of the 2 Jurassic Park cars to d'load on a site and had the idea while driving around a tropical island map. I wasn't able to make the tangled power lines from the fence though. Couldn't find anything to use for those.. It was hard enough making the fence and car guide track using the limited scenery choices for the map i was on.
Small update, and by small i mean nothing special, but still good enough for me to leave a comment.
I've decided to update the custom scenery on some of my early rides before they get uploaded on here. Basically, anything i'd made in Blender back when i was still learning to use it, and really had no idea what the hell i was actually doing, lol. So the end result was un-optimised, beginner scenery that could've been done better. Rides like Angry Birds, Back To The Future, my earlier stuff.
No, i'm not re-modelling anything from scratch, don't want to make too much extra work for myself, hahaha. I'm simply cutting down poly count where i can, adding textures, smoothing any old sharp-edged models, cleaning things up etc. Doing all the things that you don't know when starting out, but learn about later on. So far i've been working on the 3ds pigs from my Angry Birds ride, converting them into .dae files (yay!). My BTTF Delorean shell will probably gain some textures as part of this operation. Plus i need to make a new station for my Megaman ride after the B&M scale update that time, so i thought 'why not?'
You'll prob see an update or two in here as i get things finished. again. If what i've done is worth showing off, that is.
My Dodge Viper coaster is still in development. I've subcontracted it out to the Darkstar Construction Co., and while he's decided not to show me any progress pictures, he told me that he has made some progress, despite being busy.
So that's that.
Quick question for everyone.
As mentioned above, i'm cleaning up my early models. And i've recently been working on my BTTF Delorean shell. When i imported the original .3ds model back into Blender, it had hundreds of triangulated faces which have now been cleaned up. And a few other small, largely un-noticable tweaks have been made. I'm also thinking of adding the Mr. Fusion that i left off the first time round.. But the reason i'm here, textures! I need some opinions.
Which licence plate should i put on the rear of the car?

Outatime or future barcode?
Also, i'm considering adding a stainless steel texture to the body of the car. Should i do that or not?
Still not sure of the easiest way to do that, but i'll sort it out. I always do. usually..
I vote for the classic OUTATIME plate!
The classic outta time and i vote for the stainless steel texture. BTTF is one of my favorite movies.
I also vote for the OUTATIME plate.
So, something like this? Sorry, no staino textured body yet. This was just a quick test i did to see how it looked.

Also, who likes my new tail lights? I deleted the modelled ones i'd originally made, too many faces/polys. And i re-shaped the tail light 'panels' on the model to better fit the texture i'd found. I'm not having much luck finding a decent picture on google of the headlights to use for the headlight textures. But failing that, there IS a real Delorean in our garage that i can always use to take reference/texture pictures. May even take a picture of one of the body panels for the stainless steel texture.. We'll see.
Got a stainless steel texture on it now. I might try and source a better tiled image and re-do it, as it looks a little bit big at the moment.. It's difficult to find a decent sized high quality tiled image that's not covered in bloody watermarks. Plus it'll look better in NL2 with a mild reflection and other fancy NL2MAT stuff on it.
I also added a textured 'Delorean' badge on the rear bumper, just like on the real thing!!

And it has Delorean wheel textures on the wheels as well.. I couldn't really show those and the front/back of the car in the same shot. Trust me, they're there. Still no progress on Mr. Fusion since the previous post, hahaha.
Wow, that looks amazing!
Thanks. It would look even better if it sparked, lit up and went into temporal displacement..

Buuut, i don't know how to make that happen. And i'd rather avoid adding more work to the growing list of things i have to do, lol.
Speaking of, i'll also be cleaning up the station building and re-doing all the textures.
As it was some of my early work, the station building model had some small imperfections, and the textures can also be improved this time round.
Hey people.. Seems it's been a few months since i put something in here. So with that being said, here's something.
Who remembers this? Given the limited screens i've previously posted both here and on NLE..

Yeah, neither do i.
I joke.. It would be a bit weird if i didn't remember my own ride.
But i just wanted to let you all know that things are happening. So, if you feel the urge to watch this space, go right ahead.
I was wondering where this project went. Glad to see some updated screens though!
Looks better and better each time! Excellent work!
Woof. This is looking awesome.
RIP Vipers--again.
@ Asianguruu: I would've provided some image updates during construction, but i couldn't. Because someone else was making it for me. And they only recently finished it and sent it back to me. So, you will see a few more pics from now on. It's mainly scenery work that i'll be doing. Need to re-do my station building, as my original design now doesn't fit where the station section is.
Track & support colours may be subject to change.
Thanks for the comments guys.
I was going to wait until i'd done more before posting these to show everyone, but what the hell. Here you go.
Thanks to DarkStar for designing the layout/making the ride for me. I doubt i would've come up with something like this myself, hahaha.

Yes, it has a dual station. Oooh, this new formatting toolbar makes things easy. Thanks Mods.

Overview of the whole ride.
Not a great deal of scenery done so far, still working on ideas etc.
So i haven't posted anything in here for a while..
I haven't really done much in NL2 lately. Other things have been taking up my time. But i came here to post an update on my Viper coaster.
I AM still working on it, apologies it's taking so long. But i do hope to release this before the new 2020/21 Dodge Viper actually launches.. Yes, it's been that long, that Dodge have announced a brand new model for the car i originally made this ride as a tribute to, because they'd ended production of it.
Anyway..
Here's an update. All WIP btw.

Station finally has textures. Yay! It only took me like, forever.. I didn't want to spend too much time making scenery for it, but i would like to add a few details/things around the station, as the inside is a little bit empty at the moment. Also going to add a ride-op terminal. I know there's one in Bestdani's 97 degrees park package he uploaded, so i'll borrow that to save me making one. Still have a lot of fences and railings to add here and there, as well as finish off and texture the pedestrian foot traffic area.
And here's an artsy fartsy depth of field shot, while i'm here.

Well, it's been some time since i put anything in here. Almost a year. And no, i haven't forgotten about this either:

I forced myself to sit down and work on it, lol. And it's almost done. Been adding general scenery and bits 'n pieces to it.
So yes, it's coming soon..
I know it's been a long time since i first announced my Viper ride, hahaha. And i apologise it's taken so long. But to those of you who have been waiting for me to finish this, thank you for your patience. I just haven't been using NL2 very much in recent times.. Need to get back into it. Maybe i'll hop on the RMC bandwagon and do one of those, lol.
So.. In the process of hopping about between projects, i've done a little bit of work on my Mega Man invert. Mainly, i pretty'd up the trench after the launch. I made some adjustments to it, and used Secret Imbecile's guide to trenches to make it look more natural. And i added some small undulations to the sides, so it looks more rock-like, and less digital. (not THAT visible in shot, but trust me..)
There is a texture on one side that's misbehaving and a bit stretched out, and i can't seem to get it perfect. So it can stay that way. Pfffft.

Look at that, blends riiiiight in ^
But the main thing i need to do.. It needs a new station. And i'm just not getting any ideas coming to me at the moment. All i currently have is a blank foundation and stairs, which really isn't much of a station if you ask me.. I'd like to try and make something forest themed, keeping with the Sting Chameleon level theme from the game, but i just don't know what.
I'll think of something..
If anyone has any ideas, feel free to drop em in here.
All good, i have an idea for it now.
Nothing says 'forest' quite like a hollowed out log.

Unfortunately, it's almost exactly the same shape as the old station i had. But given the natural shape of a log, there's not a lot i can do about that.
It's still very much work-in-progress, that's just a quick test piece i did up to see how it looked in place. Still need to add doorways, and maybe rough it up a little bit among other things. And the foundation needs textures as you can see.
But yeah, i thought i'd leave this here, so you can all have a look.

Yes, it's back. With a somewhat improved formula, guaranteed to make your whites whiter and your colours fade. And it's now 10% better.
So after the demise of NLE, i deleted all my images from mediafire that i'd posted on the old forum. Cause a lot of you had already seen them before, and well, that thread's goooooooone. So i thought i'd start afresh, with new stuff.
And continuing from where i left off, my Viper coaster.
I decided to add a little 'embossed' detail to the sides of the trains..
That's all for now.
