Delay's Construction Thread

Hello!

I've been filling up the "What did you just do in NoLimits" - Thread a lot. So I've decided to create this thread, where I'll post updates and stuff from now on.

Current project: None

Past projects:
Diamond Height (indefinitely paused)

Looking forward to this one. Of all the coasters in RCT, this one is probably the most iconic (actually, I kind of can't think of any others that really stick out...), and I'd love to see a believable (and, you know, fun) interpretation come together in NL.

^I tried making the track rather smooth, maybe too smooth for a Schwarzkopf. There are some abrupt turns (especially at the end of Agora) to remind you, like "Hey, this is not a smooth Intamin, this is still an old Schwarzkopf from the 90s!".
That being said, the helix has a few pumps in it that are unintentional. However, I think those pumps make the track feel older, so I currently don't plan on fixing them.

And with the vacation ending and school beginning, I can't work on the coasters that much anymore per day. In short: progress will take longer., updates will be shorter. Anyway, here are two more shots from around the same position:

Hate to double post, but Agoraphobia is done!

It's your thread, you can post as often as you need to. Plus, there's a few days between that and your previous one, so technically it's not a double post.
Train looks good. Don't think i've seen it completed till now.

And a day later, Claustrophobia is done!
...Kind of: The tunnels are unsupported, but these should be relatively quick in comparison.

But obviously, this isn't the end of this journey. I still have to do some obvious (and not so obvious) things like adding vegetation, finishing the Merry Go Round and hopefully adding it's classic sounds, adding paths,... and finally figuring out bestdani's effect script.
I certainly know that this park isn't even close to being done.

I worked on the terrain some more! The texture is white for better visibility. I tried to add a good amount of bumps.

I really want this to look like a rock cliff... What do you think about that? (You can kind of see how steep that is)

And some shots with the two coasters in the background. You can see how tiny the trains are in comparison to the loop:

I like this current state a lot. I'm happy with how it turned out.

^ Trust Togo to make that comment, hahaha.

Put a nice seamless rock texture on the cliff face, grass on top, and it will look fine. It's a bit hard to add bumps or rough detail when doing cliffs like that.

Because the appropriate coaster style is not in the game program, I decided to turn Arachnophobia into a spinning coaster. I think it also fits the layout quite well; lots of turns, (hopefully) lots of spinning.

Wait, Arachnophobia?

Surprise! Very early on, actually, I decided to... expand the project a bit by recreating the entire park, not just its two main attractions. I've started working on Arachnophobia yesterday. What I already have is a 20m tall lift and a drop into a tunnel, both of these are not final yet. Arachnophobia is kinda long, so I'm worried 20m is not enough. Anyway, here it is:

I hope my surprise was at least semi-good.

I'm increasingly worried and concerned that I will just disappoint. I haven't made any progress since the last update and I honestly don't know what to do with this or how to continue.
It would really just be "Here's a coaster. And here's another one. And this one, which duels with the other one. All have no queue or any theming, no modelling around them. Oh, and here's a merry-go-round."
I've set the stakes too high.

What if you scaled the project back to just include the original Acrophobia and Agoraphobia, focused on completing them with some scenery, and dropped the rest of the park? A full-on park recreation is a lot for any one person to take on, and I understand your discouragement. However, Acrophobia and Agoraphobia seem to be mostly complete anyway; that goal seems much more attainable.

I have a new PC capable of running NL2 smoothly. I could work Diamond Heights and get it into a somewhat working order now.

However there'd be one thing that would keep me from releasing it either way.

Fear

I don't think this "project" is great. I think it's terrible, a disgrace even, both to RCT and this community, and I don't want to release, yet I do want to do so. I'm in a dilemma right now: Either I release this project as is and (from my perspective) risk disgracing basically everyone and/or everything or I don't release this, in that case the entire work I did on this would've been for nothing. Neither one of these sounds pleasant or desirable to me.

I'm really not sure as to what I'm supposed to do in this situation. I have conflicting interests and frankly I'm stuck with nowhere left to go.

Do what you feel like doing. It's not like we are grading you on it, nor are your superiors, or are we owed anything from you. Make what you want, share with us if it makes you happy.

I still have this thing on my Dropbox account.

My submission for the NL2 Tournament 2017. Not optimized at all and terrain is just... what did I do there?
It was the perfect combination of having a poor computer, poor understanding of how things work and sheer incompetence.

Sounds like something I can upload, right?

I mean, it wasn't last in the contest - there actually were people building something worse than this!

Can't be that bad then!

I built something I'm happy with!

It's a wooden coaster, and I'm pretty sure that the track itself is done...

...aside from one little thing that I may need to ask about.

This section here is basically unsupported:

This is what the support generator came up with and I don't think this would work in real life. I don't want to alter the layout anymore - only as a last resort. Is there anything else that I can try first?
