The Official WTF Thread
I want one of those right now
Really like that idea. Let's hope they sell one soon!
That seems like something Gerstlauer could easily make.
^It does seem to be based around the same concept as the Gerstlauer Skyroller flat ride.
They also made a double Tourbillon
And this ride as well
Inb4 Canada's Wonderland orders any one of these and calls it "The First of its Kind in North America"
I don't see anything wrong with Canada's Wonderland adding more dope flat rides, no matter how they market them.

I have never noticed that. Can someone explain?
There is a service road that runs directly under the track there so the support has to be wide enough to clear the road.
But couldn't you technically start the A-Frame right below the rail connector? Also, the support is even bent twice xD Both things I'd consider not the best solutions to withstand gravity.
Intamin is weird and there are a ton of weird supports on that ride. I guess it's just the way they found to solve the issue.
I know they couldn't build supports in the water.
They were allowed to put footers in the water, but as few as possible.
I don't think they could put supports over the stream that leads into that pond but the pond itself is fine
I never understood though why the concrete part of the footers was so tall. Anyone know why?
Concrete is less expensive than engineering supports so by taking up a majority of the height with concrete will lower the cost. It could also have something to do with variable water levels, but I doubt that’s much of an issue there.
I would assume it's because it was designed on a flat plane either anticipating being a clone model or because a height map of the terrain was unavailable during the design. Footers are much more versatile to pour to a specific place than manufacturing a new support. This is the same reason Ride of Steel at Darien Lake / SFA have the same tall supports.
Actually it’s for flooding purposes.
But it was also designed on a flat plane, that picture shows it perfectly:
It's indeed common with clonable designs, as enginering is easier and you don't have to redo it each time. Here a Force 190 at Kolmarden, the concrete is hid with wooden panels:
Another extreme exemple is this Intamin 10-inversion:
It’s on that flat plane because the footers had to be above a certain height due to common flooding in the area. I think the actual lake is there for flooding purposes if I remember correctly.
Oh, I thought it was under the same rules as great bear.

Great Bears supports are ridicules
I'm not convinced that Skyrush is a clone model though, whilst I completely agree with the other 2 coasters you posted KingRCT3 but I think in this case it was probably designed with such a level for flooding purposes especially as if you look a little into the background there is definitely a footer that is much higher than the rest.

Not necessarily WTF but really interesting for sure. Made by the same dudes that made the new coaster for 2019 @ Schwabenpark:
There is also other really crazy things on their website which is worth checking out.
