Dragón Groar's NoLimits 2 Script Generator

51 to 75 of 146

I'm not sure if the speed limits before a trigger are working. The Train still seems to only brake once it is in the middle of the Block where the trigger is.

The coaster script is here: LINK

The speed limits in the exit setup panel are only intended to limit the transport speed. It doesn't affect the speed over which the brake should close and trim the train's speed, therefore, your explanation looks like the intended behaviour actually.

It's true that it would be interesting to also have a per-exit brake speed limit, but that is not implemented. The existing settings are to limit the transports speed. I might consider adding the a brake speed limit setting to the exit setup, but I can't promise that, since last time I tried to do that years ago, it was really quirky and I did not manage to really replicate NoLimits 2's trim behaviour correctly...

Besides, I'm quite sure right now that the trim function of brakes only activates after the trigger anyways...

Therefore, if you want the train to slow down to the selected speed before the trigger, make sure to increase the transports deceleration so that the transports brake the train ;)

hi there!

very new to scripting coasters. when i try to run a basic script on a mini coaster i made just to test the waters, i keep getting this error.

Error in File 'dgScriptGeneratoriDgScriptGeneratorManager.nlvm' in Line 4: Not a class: nlvm.util.HashMap

Error in File 'triael.nlvm' in Line 209: Unknown symbol 'DgScriptGeneratorManager'

That means you have an outdated NoLimits 2 version. The scripting class "HashMap" was introduced in version 2.6.5.7, so you will need to update NoLimits 2 at least to that version. Keep in mind that even if you took it upon yourself to substitute the code that uses that class, some of the features of the Script Generator won't even work before that version, as I sent a number of bug reports to the developers from version 2.6.5.5 that got fixed for version 2.6.5.7, some of which are important for certain Script Generator features.

Therefore, please just update NL2 to the latest version and you'll be good.

Could you add a a way to keep track of which train is which. And to individually keep track of how many times the train or trains has gone through the station. specifically for the passthrough mode so I can have more than one train on the passthrough mode;

Because it's not working without scripting it thinks there is only one train so instead of the second train stopping to load or unload it'll just go straight to the station and not get loaded or unloaded.

The passthrough mode works like it does in vanilla NoLimits 2. The "Station passes" field is exactly the same as the vanilla Station setting "Passes", but I had to include it in the generator because NoLimits' API doesn't expose that value, so the script can't read it.

That said, the number you input in that field is the number of trains that will pass without stopping between each train that will stop.
That setting is normally used for cases where you have several stations acting in sync one after the other, like, for example, on Maverick, or in the virtual world, Journey to Agartha.
These have two stations that dispatch together two trains, therefore, one train 1 dispatches from station A and train 2 dispatches from station B, train 2 will go through station A, but we don't want it to stop and do the station cycle again.
Going one train back, train 3 will advance from before and will go through station B, but we don't want it to stop in station B, but in station A. Therefore, between train 1 and train 3, the two trains that need to stop in station A there was a non-stopping train. The passes value should be 1. The same goes for station B.
If you had 3 stations instead of 2, you'd have 2 non-stopping trains between each stopping train.
Of course, a normal station wants all trains to stop, so there should be 0 non-stopping trains between each stopping train, which is the default value of the passes setting.

Now, the extra thing is that I allow you, through an extension script, to disable a station and make it always behave in passthrough mode, but that has very little to do with the Station passes value (other than the passthrough mode itself, but the activation is different).

So, unless you're referring so something else or specifically want some behaviour that can't be done with a simple pass count, I think the passes setting should be behaving as intended.

In any case, I'll think about the first suggestion in the first paragraph because I find it interesting anyway, but as with everything, no promises on delivering it soon! ;)

If I did not understand something or I did not explain something well enough, don't hestitate to answer back!

Cheers,
Dragón Groar

Possibly a cool feature to have would be where you can set a station to permanent pass through mode when you’re running under a certain threshold of trains.

There appears to be a bug. For some reason the speed I put for a swing launch seems to be applying to both directions instead of the opposite of the leave direction.

There appears to be a bug. For some reason the speed I put for a swing launch seems to be applying to both directions instead of the opposite of the leave direction.

I have a test coaster which I used specifically to build the swing-launch and swing-brake features and I can confirm the latest version of the script is working as expected in that coaster.

However, I think I know where your bug comes from, and it's actually not a bug but a badly designed pair of features.

  • I did a fix that the "after trigger" speed limit now also affects the "towards" direction of swing-launches (which was always unlimited before).
  • The newly added "empty" speed limit that doesn't change the current speed limit, which is the default now.

So, if you leave the "after trigger" maximum speed empty (where you see "No change"), yes, the swing-launch will be capped both forwards and backwards to "away" direction speed because the speed won't change when going "towards" the exit.

Therefore, you can fix it for now by setting the "after trigger" speed limit to "0" (which resets it to the maximum). For the next version, I'll add a forced reset when going "towards" the exit in swing-launches before applying the "after trigger" speed limit. ;)

Most likely that the app is not signed. I mention this in the first post:

Neither the Windows nor the Mac versions are signed (which is an expensive thing to do, and I do this for fun, not for a job), so it's possible that your computer and/or antivirus alert you about them being dangerous.
Feel free to run a manual virus scan or upload them to virustotal, there's no virus in them.

Signing an app is expensive and must be done each time you publish an update, so obviously I'm not going to do it. Signing it is a mark that someone (whoever signed it) has verified the app is safe and you as a user trust that someone on that (by default your Windows trusts a predefined set of signers). Certain antiviruses are very aggressive and preventively mark for quarantine anything that's not signed, just in case. Feel free to run a manual scan on the file or upload it to virustotal and you'll most likely see there's no issue with the program. And if you're still getting worrying results, let me know... you shouldn't.

Hello Dg. So, thank you for your previous help, which was helpful and allowed me to resolve the issues.
Today I have another question. It concerns a future coaster I'm planning to build. It's a future Mack Stryker, but it has a short layout, so it's much more like a Mystic at Walibi Rhône-Alpes (yes, it's a Gerstlauer, not a Mack, sorry) than a Voltron at Europa-Park.
Since it's a short layout, my configuration is that a transfer table will act as a launch in addition to serving two stations. So, what I'd like to know is if there's currently a way to create a "pulsar" configuration (Walibi Belgium) where the train is propelled backward, then forward, then a complete lap, the launch sends it back for a second lap, and at the end of the second, the braking is activated.

If u download and install the program, click on the ? mark on the right upper corner a HELP screen pops up.

Hi! (Translation below / Traduction au dessus)

I more or less understand what you want to do, and it definitely is possible (see CoasterGalaxyWorld's Era-Park for a Mack PowerSplash ride like Pulsar), but I'm afraid not without custom 3D trains and some scripting for the turntable movement. The problem requiring the custom trains and scripting is that you can't really make the train turn in a perfect circle and take the required track switches at the same time. The closest you could get (for a PowerSplash, for example) is this:

back spike ---->-- brake --<---- splash section
· · · · · · · / · · · · · · \
· · · · · · · \ · · · · · · /
· · · · · · · ·└--- sta ---┘

(Please ignore the small dots, spaces are apparently removed if put together)

You could do it either with regular switches (fork/merge) or with a fake transfer table to connect to two perfectly round tracks leading to the station, but either way you will need a straight section where the train needs to stop between both switches, so you can't make it move in a perfect circle, it needs to go a bit forwards or backwards first to reach the switches.

With 3D trains, however, when the train stops in the turntable's "track" position brake, you can unlink the 3D train from the actual (hidden) train and lock its movement to the turntable 3D object's movement, making it look like it's moving with it, while the real train does its slightly longer tour to the station.

I've also investigated a bit how CoasterGalaxyWorld did it in Era-Park, and it turns out that the only real track is the run track, which has only one train. The whole part of the turntable, station and second train is fully scripted. When the 3D train is in the turntable, its movement is controlled by the script, when it's in the run track, it's movement is linked to the real train. It's like what I've explained, but a bit simpler.

Those are the only good ways I can think of to do what you want, and unfortunately, they're not easy. (Of course, if you were to do this, you could close the circuit instead of leaving the two spikes to make what you want.)

Hope that helps!

Bonjour !

yeah i do too

Hello,

As MrRC explained, you should be able to understand the basics by clicking the ? icon at the top right corner (at least I hope so, because that's my intention with that menu), but I'll glide over the basics.

You need to add in its corresponding tab each Block, Non-block Section and Switch you plan to use, and then for each Block, you need to configure what Exits a train stopped or passing through that block can take. The first one in the list, by default, is the default exit (the one taken in AUTO mode by default).

Inside each exit configuration, you need to select the different settings for that exit, like the direction (forwards or backwards), if it's a launched exit or a regular one, the switches passed between the current block and the next (and their position), etc... I invite you to try the different settings and features and click the little ? icons in each for a small description and occasional tips about each.

And if you feel lost about any feature, feel free to let me know and I'll try to adjust the help texts for the next version to be more descriptive and, in general, more helpful.

When I use multi-move between 2 different stations, load and unload, when the train enters the load station, the block says (In Station), then the train passes through the station without stopping. I also don't have any station pass-throughs enabled.

Hello. Is there any way to affect the acceleration with which a Transport accelerates a train using a script? E.g. if I had a swing launch. The first launch would be acceleration 1, the second launch would be at acceleration 2, and so on.
