Seaside Screamer III Contest - Winner Announced & Writeups Cancelled
ill throw some random ride in i guess.
Happy New Year NLC!
Since its new years day, I have decided to release the contest template one day early! (Deadline will still be February 2nd). But first, some quick tips for your rides
Base Frame Supports
Some of you might be curious what we are talking about, and might even be a little confused as to what you should be doing. If thats the case, I have some examples of the sort of thing we are looking for

A perfect example is the style used on hydrus at casino pier. Please note how none of the supports are going on their own single base frame, and usually share the same frame as a couple others as well to make it more strengthened. If you are still a little confused, here is an example in NoLimits 2 itself thanks to Element115

Another style you can use is how schwarzkopfs are usually set up, which is just one large frame instead of a few smaller ones that only hold two or three support connections like the ones on hydrus

Hopefully that gives people a better understanding for what is required for the contest
Wooden Coaster Supports
For those who will be brave enough to attempt a wooden coaster, the supports must NOT come in contact with the pathways in the park, and can only touch the ground in:
- the start area
- the orange wireframe in the park area
- on the pier area (Base Frame supports are still required)
Here is a quick example of what I am talking about

Oh, and one other thing
DO NOT PLACE SUPPORT FOOTERS ON PRE EXISTING FLAT RIDE'S OR BUILDINGS IN THE AREA
It should be fairly obvious, but I know there are a few of you that like bending the rules of the contest, so I had to make it clear
What the Judges will look for in your entries
-
Forces: The coaster must be safe for riders, and we would highly recommend checking out the post amatsuNL made Here
-
Use Of Template: Its easy to just build a simple out and back coaster, but to make your entry stand out go out of your way to create something unique to the setting, and utilises the template's restrictions incredibly well to create something amazing
-
Supports: The ride needs to look like it can actually stand up if it was built, and wont just fall over if someone breathes on the ride. Also if you are going for a manufacturer specific style, bonus "points" will be added for people who make them look as accurate to that manufacturer's style as possible
-
Realism: Bit of a broad term here, but for example we will be checking to make sure the ride car's dont intersect with themselves or the track, ride clearance, and also if the ride is designed to be like a specific manufacturer's style then making it as close to that style as possible will put you out ahead of the other entries
Please Note
custom 3d work and stuff added into the park wont add to your score, but if you go out of your way to create a custom station for your ride and put some of the NL2 scenery pieces down to make the start area look a little better it will be acknowledged in the writeups
The Templates
This year there are two templates, one is the full park and the other is a much more optimised version designed for people to use if their computer isnt the best. If you do use the "lite" version of the template please make sure you import your ride into the main template for submission

Each wireframe outline has been given a basic description if you get confused as to what they mean, and the park description also has a basic guide
Have Fun! If you need any assistance or are having any issues then either PM me on the NLC messaging system or comment on the thread

Can I still get in the contest?
I think I'll have a go at this one :)

Can I still get in the contest?
yeah you can still join, im not going to restrict how many can enter at all (and also not restrict how late you can join). each coloured area is explained in the first main post on the thread, and additional info is in the template file on the wireframe track descriptions and the park description
Maybe I've missed it, but what does the magenta ring around the observation tower mean?
Its a basic clearance ring, and also identifies where the tower is if you decide to hide scenery when making the ride

Thanks COASTERGUY246, I re-edited my post when I opened up the template and saw the infos. So, I'm in btw!
Are we allowed to place footers freely in the yellow and orange zones?
Yes you are - You can place them in the pathways too, but make sure they dont obstruct the paths completely
But we can't place footers in the red zones, right?
You can, but they cant obstruct the pathways. Its only wooden supports that cant be placed on the path areas
I'll have to drop out of the contest because of technical difficulties*
*These technical difficulties could be fixed within the deadline. Then it's a question of whether it's still worth to start building.
I'll join
So, a woody does not need to have the framework under the supports?
that's an framerate o.O

yeah... Its because the flat rides are too close together for the LOD's to really have an affect. The lite template exists so people can still build something

It does, see the bullet point I made about them
^ Totaly missed that. My bad, thx!
The Lite version is not very usefull btw due to the red outline. Try selecting an verticle behind it :P
It may be a strange question but does it needs to have a specific theoretical capacity?
For all the FVD++ users: I have prepared a background template for in-editor reference:

Not sure if Imgur resizes large images down, so here's a google drive link too.
A version without the red wall can be found here if you really want it - Download
I just assumed people would hide scenery when editing stuff, since the wireframe borders still show were to build and where not to build

Not really, but it would be good to have capacity in mind when designing the ride

Thanks, This is super helpful. However FVD seem to resize the image no matter how many pixels large it is.

I'm in!
