I'll be surprised if that doesn't blow up on YouTube

It might have if he had put it on a model of the Titanic, intertwined a Polercoaster over the lift, or if it was actually opening in real life.

  1. Finally found a song to use
  2. Wanted to test 4K upscaling and rendering
  3. Why not actually publish something

(As the title suggests, the environment is still unfinished, but maybe someday I'll get to shooting the final video...)

Made some improvements using bossact7's epic support scenery tutorials and my first custom car texture. My PC has a terrible graphics card so support scenery is better than big blender .dae objects

Uhh that's an awful mindset. Using support scenery would be A LOT less optimized than using a "big blender .dae object", infact, using a model instead of supports would drastically improve performance

^^ Yeah, don't do that.

I'm planning to continue my tunnel-themed tutorials, and have put together this test scene for the next one

I've tried models before and get big framerate drops, i can run 30-40fps normally, but when using stuff like flux's rock pack it drops to 15-20fps

^ That's probably because Flux's rocks have a fairly high poly count. Any kind of rocks are going to be more intensive than buildings or railings because they need a lot of faces to look realistic. There are lower poly ones out there that should solve your issue, though (TheCodeMaster's, for example).

I use support scenery all the time since I do not make 3ds at all. Jamp Up Land uses supports very very heavily for the floors and buildings and coaster supports. Here is a comparison.

blender would run smoothly on my PC I could give it a shot.

Are you sure you tried the normal stable release? It even runs at a usable speed for small things on my raspberry pi 3.

Anyway, your support scenery work looked good already, I think there's nothing wrong with clever used support scenery if it fulfills its purpose.
The internal rocks that come with NL2 should also perform good by the way.

Yeah I tried it, loads up a windows command centre box then crashes saying Im missing a .dll file of some sort. I installed it using the download on their site so Im not sure what the problem is...

^ What version of Windows are you running? Sounds like you might be missing a runtime dependency, if you have Steam you can find Blender on there and it should grab install everything for you.

^^ Just my two cents: I downloaded the zip file from the Blender site, and i've never had any problems with it.
Did you d'load the zip, alee298, or did you d'load the installer file?
