Welcome to the Coaster Supporting Championship 2020, hosted by your gracious fellow NLC members CrPijke, Jpau, and Sukkulents.
From Saturday the 12th, we are expecting you to flex your supporting muscles and show off your No Limits experience by building supports for one (or both) of the two coasters available. Every contestant will be given the opportunity to choose from either a heavily terrain-based Intamin LSM launch coaster, or a new-gen B&M invert.
Each of the coasters provides a different challenge and unique style due to their nature, so pick whichever you feel will best allow you to demonstrate your ability. Of course, as stated before, you are welcome to try both; the rankings will be seperated for each of the coasters.
The contest will begin 12/9/20 (Saturday 12th September) 6PM BST (12:00 CT) and will run through until the deadline at 6PM BST (12:00 CT) on 19/9/20 (Saturday 19th). All entries must be submitted by this deadline (as an NL2 package file) or will not be counted.
Judging
Judging will be based upon 4 factors:
Structural Integrity / Realism (Including flanges, appropriate lengths for beams, and proper placement, etc) /10 points
Coaster Style (ie. no square supports for B&M, proper supports for inverted catwalks, etc) /10 points
Aesthetics /10 points
Adherence to Rules /5 points
The total score available for each coaster will be 35 points and the leaderboard rankings will be based upon these scores.
The contest will also include several extra awards that are separated from the actual competition leaderboards. These will include:
Rules
If a structure of supports connects to the track between two triggers, that structure can have a maximum of four footers. The overall structure can be organised however the contestant sees fit, however all the combined track connectors within the specified segment can only be connected to at most four footers. To clarify, only four footers can be used to support the entire track segment. Full supports of the entire coaster is expected (including catwalks).
-Any trees, bushes or rocks can be moved or but removing large chunks without reason can reduce points.
-Following the rule above --> Supports and footer cant clip any trees or brushes (it can go through grass).
-No terrain editing in any way.
We expect this to be a source of confusion so please comment or reply if you have any questions.
If a single footer is found either in the water for the B&M or on the paths for the intamin you instantly lose all adherence to rules points.
If multiple are found breaking these rules you will be disqualified.
Supporting the Intamin
The intamin coaster is intended to provide more breathing space for creativity, due to its more diverse layout and the manufacturer’s less rigid design ethos. The tophat may benefit from more traditional supports, but be careful of its placement as the environment and surrounding/overlapping track are the biggest challenges here.
Unique to this coaster, no supports can be placed on paved areas where ‘guests’ would be expected to walk.
Supporting the B&M
The challenge of the B&M should be focused around capturing the style of the manufacturer, yet being able to build with very limited space. Keep in mind the clearance of the trains when approaching this coaster, as the inverted supports will be less forgiving than for the intamin.
Furthermore, the B&M coaster cannot include any supports in the water and any footers that are placed in the lake will be penalised under the adherence to rules category.
Prizes
As there is an option for either coaster, there are two prizes up for grabs.
Aside from the obvious bragging rights, each respective winner for the B&M and Intamin will be offered a gratuitous prize available to the people who place first in each of the individual coasters.
Each person who places first will be gifted 1 month of Discord Nitro worth £10 / $10. (meaning there are two available)
In addition to the first place prizes, the best overall supported coaster will be featured as the new banner on the NoLimitsCentral site, along with clear reference to the winnerPending approval.Download Templates
