Even with a train consisting of 6 cars, your train should be able to complete the course just fine; have you tried cleaning the wheel assemblies? I find that dust and debris can easily work its way into the wheel housings, causing the train to loose speed a lot quicker. I suggest using a can of compressed air, such as the kind used for cleaning electronics. The instruction manual for the Scorpion model kit I believe also says that it's safe to use a pure silicone spray as a form of lubricant for the wheels.
^ive tried everything and it literally will not work. Its literally like the trains not heavy enough. If anyone here has an alpeingeist statix theyd like to part a car from let me know. Im unsure why this is happening and its been doing this the past month. Ive tried cleaning it several times with no luck.
A train with a length of 6 cars should still be able to complete the course. This leads me to think that there may be something wrong with your track layout? Have you checked if there's a spot where one of the rails has become disconnected from a cross tie? Have you tried to fully disassemble your trail to properly clean it? Another possible issue is that maybe your train is colliding with a support or something, causing is to lose a lot of speed. Since each car doesn't weigh much at all, the extra weight of a single car would not make much of a difference. Also, doesn't the scorpion kit come with a 7 car train?
Yes it does come with a 7 car train. Im unsure where the original train went so i used an alpeingeist statix that had only 6 cars on it with the wheels swapped. Its worked for several years with no problem until i lost the last car.
Glue some small fishing weights into the front seats. I’ve seen it done before and it helps. Also, you can try deep cleaning the wheels and bogies. Dish soap or Windex in water works well. Ideally dry with a lint free cloth. Don’t use WD-40 as It attracts dust into the pin bearings
^ive tried every one of those. It still wont work! Its never done this until i lost the last car for some strange reason. Who here has an Alpeingeist statix theyd be willing to donate a car off of? Ill happily purchase a car off your train. (And 1 cars worth of metal wheels if possible)
If your concern is still about adding weight to your train, the additional weight of 1 car is not going to make a marginal difference in your model's performance, especially if you've already tried other methods to add weight to your train. I guarantee that a scorpion model works with a train length of 6 cars, if not even less. You should figure out what is causing your train to significantly slow down during the course of the layout. Properly cleaning your train will work wonders, as I find that it's very easy for dust and debris to find its way into the wheels of the train. Fulling disassembling the train and wheels will allow you to give a more thorough cleaning.
^ive already tried that. Multiple times. Im unsure why this is happening, its ran perfectly until i lost the final car. Im unsure why.
Marc’s post gave me an idea. I wonder if one of your cars is damaged (or even just one of your components). I would see if you can isolate if one particular car might be the problem. Use the lead car and 1 other car to make a two car train. Run it down a drop and note how far up the next hill it makes it. Swap out the back car with another and repeat. See if one car in particular doesn’t make it as far up the next hill as all the others. Keep breaking things down until you isolate exactly what might be causing the problem (maybe just 1 bogey or one wheel etc...). You might have better luck finding a replacement for a single component. Heck, with CD rereleasing the Dragon, you might be able to get a spare part from CD if you only need 1 thing.
I tried that. All cars ended up performing the same no matter which order. I think it needs a whole train or something. Its literally ran perfectlg for years until i lost the last car somehow. Does anyone here have an alpeingeist statix theyd like to part a car from? I really need this thing fixed.
Does anyone here have a car off a coasterdynamix alpeingeist statix model and 1 inverted cars worth of metal wheels? My scorpion will not work with 6 cars, the train doesn't have enough momentum to clear the course with the weight of 6 cars so it needs 7. Thank you!
