Tropica - Island Hopper Contest

You and the rest of your pirate crew stumble upon the small island cluster of Tropica while traveling through the Grand Line on your quest to find the One Track and become the pirate of all pirates. You lack the funds to continue on your extremely costly mission, but somehow have the budget to build a roller coaster. Attract all of the other pirates in the Grand Line to your ride and fund your mission!

Use the floating rafts and your No Limits 2 talents to island hop around this tiny archipelago!

Judging Criteria

The coaster will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Realism - Are the g-forces safe and meet industry standards? Is your track smooth? Would your ride be fun?
  • Supports - Are your supports functional? Do they follow a similar style to real life counterparts?
  • Overall - How creative is your ride? Is there a good amount of detail put into the ride? Is your ride generally aesthetically pleasing?

Scenery is not required, but us pirates always welcome it!

Rules

  • The station must be placed on the smallest island
  • Your coaster must go on all three islands at least once (Check FAQ for how we will measure that)
  • No supports can intersect with water, footers, beams, etc. Use the rafts for areas above water
  • There may be up to three footers per small raft (4m) and 6 per large raft (8m), any more will result in a deduction of points
  • Absolutely nothing (clearance envelope, track, supports, etc.) are allowed to intersect the red barriers

Bonuses

Scattered around the map you will see 6 shiny purple rafts that you can use to receive bonus points! Each raft counts as 0.5 points, allowing for a maximum of 3 extra points. All that needs to be done to receive points for each raft is to have a support footer that utilizes the raft. As a word of advice, intentionally building weird support structures in an effort to use bonus rafts will ultimately hurt your score, as they will lower your score in the support category.

FAQ

  • Q: Can I build my station on another island? A: No, it must be on the small island where you spawn
  • Q: What if my footer touches water but is on the island? A: You will need to move it so that it no longer touches water
  • Q: Do I need storage for trains? A: No, you do not need to make storage bays for your coaster but if you want to that's fine!
  • Q: Can I move scenery around? A: No, all scenery including trees, ships, barriers, rafts, etc must remain in the same place!
  • Q: What counts as a island being touched? A: As long as more than 10m of track passes within close proximity to the ground you should be ok!
  • Q: Can my ride go underwater?
A: No keep it above water and ground at all times!
