Great American Racer by serpentine

Welcome to the Great American Racer, a racing wooden coaster with over 3,700 feet of track, a height of over 104 feet, and speeds over 50 MPH.

I designed this coaster to truly capitalize on the racing aspect with both trains edging ahead of each other throughout the entire course. Great American Racer was certainly inspired by coasters like the now defunct Rolling Thunder at Six Flags Great Adventure and The Racer at Kings Island.

During this project, I simultaneously embarked on an a separate quest - to learn SketchUp. Take note of the Entrance Building featuring The Red Racer Bistro and Bar, and the Great American Racer Gift Shop. Aside from that, I also tried my hand at building the classic "Frog Flip" game that is such a part of my childhood at Amusement Parks. I put a bit of time into the custom made coaster storage buildings too. I also created the concrete lake structure, Great American Racer safety sign, loose article storage bins, and Great American Racer signage. Hope you enjoy!

Now for the coasters - I highly recommend riding in both the front seats and the back seats for full racing effect. Also, give this a try at night. The park is filled with lights that really bring it to life when the sun goes down.
