The Challenge
We have removed the restriction on wooden coasters and shuttle coasters. Your challenge is to build one of each in 5 hours!
Quick rules:
Build 2 coasters: one wooden coaster and one steel shuttle coaster. Both coasters must have their stations within the red boundaries and both coasters must pass under the yellow bars. After passing under the yellow bars, coaster track may not cross the white boundary. Coaster track, supports, and stations may not touch water, paths, trees, or go beyond the red or white borders, and no moving terrain, scenery, or boundaries. 1 tunnel per coaster max and the tunnels cannot go under the yellow beams. Launches/friction tires allowed on the shuttle coaster, but not on the wooden coaster (1 chain lift and downhill brakes/station only). Auto wooden supports allowed for the wooden coaster but no wooden supports allowed for the steel coaster (prefabs allowed & encouraged).
Judges will consider creativity, originality, realism, and fun.
Time Rules
- The 5 hour build period begins on August 27th, 2017 at 4:00 PM GMT when the contest park is available for download.
- You must build 2 separate unique coasters in the provided contest map: one wooden coaster and one steel shuttle coaster.
- You will have until 9:00 PM GMT (5 hours total) to upload your finished park to a file exchange/download/FTP site and fill out the official entry form with the download information, coaster names, your name, and your email address. Allow yourself spare time to upload your coaster and fill out this form.
Boundary Rules
- Stations and station buildings for both coasters must be placed within the red bordered area.
- Both coasters must pass between the cliffs and under the yellow bar.
- Beyond the yellow bars, neither coaster can cross the white boundaries.
- Coaster track, supports, and stations may not touch or pass beyond any contest borders, touch paths, water, or other scenery. This evaluation will be made with the coasters in a frozen state.
- Terrain cannot be altered. Trees and scenery inside the template cannot be altered.
- Supports cannot be placed on the water, but your coaster's track and structure can go over.
- Only one tunnel is allowed for each coaster. No tunnel may pass under the yellow beam in any direction or under water.
Wooden Coaster Requirements
- The wooden coaster may be any style, must be a complete circuit, and must run at least two trains.
- You may use the wooden coaster support builder to support the wooden coaster. You can build custom wooden supports as well, though all custom supports should be realistic.
- Inversions are allowable and must be realistically supported.
- The wooden coaster may use only 1 chain lift. No other transport segments or transport features allowed for moving trains. Only gravity and downward sloped tracks can move the trains.
Shuttle Coaster Requirements
- The shuttle coaster must not be a complete circuit (both ends of the track must be open).
- You may use any steel coaster style.
- Supports must be realistic and may not be generated by the automatic wooden support builder.
- The shuttle coaster may use any of the built-in shuttle coaster features, including reverse lift hills, multiple launches, multiple station passes, etc.
- The shuttle coaster may have only one station.
Other Rules
- No custom or pre-packaged scripts can be used on your coaster. Just keep it simple.
- Any submission not using the template and/or submissions built prior to the contest will be disqualified.
- You can only use NoLimits 2 and entities packaged with it - no custom 3D scenery, environments, or cartextures.
- One entry per person. If you upload more than one entry, we will only consider the last one entered.
- Please include your name in the file name submission.

Coaster: Zydeco Scream
Opening in 1990 at Parque de Atracciones de Montjuic, this Vekoma Boomerang began its life thrilling the Catalans of eastern Spain. After a decade of operation, a new park named Jazzland purchased the ride near the turn of the century, operating in New Orleans as Zydeco Scream.
In 2005, Hurricane Katrina took its toll on the area and the newly-converted Six Flags New Orleans remained dormant. In an effort to save the ride, Power Park purchased the ride in 2007 at a discounted price. To fit the land, the lift support structure was heavily modified to conform to the hillside, and other supports were truncated or replaced to fit the new footers.
In 2010, the ride reopened to the public after the long restoration process. Hearkening back to its life in the deep south, the ride retained it's name and sported a revised paint scheme. Power Park originally toyed with the idea of allowing 2016 competitors weave through and around Zydeco Scream. Instead, they decided to leave it alone to give it ample space and presence.

Coaster: Centurion
The success of Manic lead to the design and construction of Centurion, following the same principles as before.
A bigger budget left Power Park with grandiose plans and plenty of land to spare. In 2016, they opened up the competition to the entire midway. Out of 42 entries, Patrick Crowne emerged as the champion with his design of Centurion. The design remained unhinged by any and all obstacles, laying out a classic B&M design within strict guidelines.
Coaster: Manic
In an attempt to modernize Power Park's coaster lineup, the idea of Manic came to fruition. By utilizing the power of the Internet, the owners decided to let young and upcoming engineers have a hand at real coaster design in a unique contest. Christian Rippe created the winning design, and so the park contracted Maurer Söhne, who agreed to build the winner's design as close to spec as possible.
Manic opened in 2014 as a huge hit among parkgoers. Its success lead to the design and construction of another contest creation, Centurion.
